Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is Because some books stay with us forever!! Choose a book you want to re-read in 2016. I had a really hard time on this topic because I already used all the books I want to re-read in past topics. In the end I ended up choosing a book that I’ll hopefully re-read in 2016 because I want to read the remaining books. The book I choose for this week theme is Red Rising by Pierce Brown. I already read this about a year ago but this book is really complex and I don’t remember about a lot of things so I think that I’ll re-read it when I finally decided to read Golden Son. Here are some of the different covers for Red Rising 🙂
Original Cover:
I really like the original cover and this without any doubt my favorite. I like how simple it is and the colors (that are related with the plot itself). I also really like the font used and the placement. Overall this is a really beautiful cover.
Covers from my Country (Portugal):
This is another cover I really like. I think that this cover works for the book that we are talking about. Another thing I really like is that it’s similar to the original one but in a different way. If I had no idea what this book was I would say it was Red Rising because it has the same feel. Good job portuguese designers 😀
Favorite Covers:
I have nothing to say about these. I already expalined why I like this covers 😀
Least Favorite Covers:
Let me think what I have to say about these covers. I don’t like it, I don’t like it, I don’t like it and I don’t like it. These covers are terrible. The greek cover it’s not that bad but it doesn’t work for me. The cover from Croatia is too plain. The last two covers… I don’t even know what to say about it. WHY?? Just stop doing these weird covers. Sometimes it’s better if you keep the original.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂
OMG, those bad covers are pretty terrible!!! what were they thinking??? I like ours 😀

Right??? So bad!!! Especially the last one.
I’m really proud of the portuguese cover. It’s pretty good

Never have I seen a greek cover and thought it’s pretty, honestly they should just stick to the original cover for foreign books (actually it’s either a hit or miss with greek covers too). What do you think of the cover with the inverted colours (the red cover with the black wing)?

Normally it’s the same with portuguese covers. It’s either a hit or miss.
I never saw the cover with the inverted colors. Is it a special edition??

I was about 40% sure I hallucinated it until I found this image:

I can’t find an image of the front but it’s just like the original cover except the background is red and the wing is black.

I think I still like the original one better

The last two covers are awful! I like the one from Portugal better than the original one.

The original and the Portuguese covers are sooo beautiful. 😍
The Croatian cover actually reminds me a bit of the Divergent cover. The design is a bit similar, I think.

That’s it. I knew that it reminded me of something but I couldn’t remember what. But you’re right. It makes me think of the Divergent cover

I think they could’ve pulled it off pretty nicely if the design was done a bit more intricately.

I actually can’t stand the original cover, I think it’s terrible XD It looks too homemade for me. The one from Portugal is pretty nice though! I also don’t mind the ones from Greece and Croatia 😀 I’d pick up both of those way before I picked up the original haha.

I cannot wait to binge through Red Rising (dropped off at like 80 because of other reading commitments), GS, and then maybe Morning Star before I [hopefully] get to meet Pierce himself at a signing next month! Such excites.

And here I was thinking that you would pick the Night Circus, but I LOVE RED RISING! And you need to read Golden Song. Oh, the feels!!!

I thought about that but I already used The Night Circus in another theme 😛
I will read Golden Son but I don’t know when. I still need to get the book
