Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

sisterhoodoftheworldbloggers

Hi guys. I was nominated to the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award so today I decided to answer to it. First of all I would love to thank Franzi for nominating me =) . You should definitely check her blog.  Let’s start answering it.

Rules:

1. Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.

2. Answer the questions the nominator has provided.

3. Nominate 10 other bloggers (I didn’t have 10 other bloggers. Sorry about that).

4. Create 10 questions for your nominees and notify them of their nomination.

Questions:

1. Do your friends/family know that you blog?

Most of them know. At least most of my family and my closest friends know about it and support me.

2. What was your best moment with your blog so far?

Probably when I reached 100 followers because I wasn’t expecting that to happen especially in less than 3 months.

3. Why did you choose writing and not for example youtube?

I’m too shy for youtube and I express myself better when I’m writing.

4. Where would you to travel if you had the chance to?

Right know if I could I would either to London, Paris or New York. Especially London because I want to visit it since I remember. I would also love to go to Scotland.

5. Do you cook?

I wouldn’t starve if I had to cook but I’m not the best cooker in the world. At least I can say that I make a pretty good tuna and spinach lasagna.

6. Do you follow more female or male bloggers?

Female, I think.

7. Do you follow blogs that are very different from yours in terms what they blog about?

I follow a few beauty blogs and also other things but not a lot of them.

8. How often did you want to blog per week when you started?

I wanted to blog at least 4 times a weekend and I’m keeping with that so I’m happy with that.

9. Are you a sweet or a salty person?

If we’re talking about personality I tend to be sweet but don’t try to get me mad because when I get mad it’s not funny to watch. Luckily that doesn’t happen that often.

10. What tip would you give a person who wants to start blogging?

My main tip is be honest on what you write and talk about things that you love and interest you.

My Nominations:

Warisha at Warisha Reads

Panda at Panda’s Books

Saba and Hafsa at BookMates

Trey at Trey Schnarr Books

Analee at Book Snacks

Valerie at Little Dutch Bookshop

My Questions:

1. What kind of environment do you blog in? Do you schedule your blog posts a few days out or just write when the moment strikes you?

2.  If you could live in any fictional land or world, which would it be?

3. What’s your favorite song right now?

4. What is your favourite book series and why? ( and jus to be fair you can’t say Harry Potter =P)

5. Who’s your favorite author and why?

6. Biggest ambition?

7. If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

8. Which books inspire you to write?

9. Who are your go-to authors, the ones that you don’t even need to read the back cover to know you want to read it?

10. What is the biggest thing you’ve learned through blogging?

This is it. I’m looking forward to read your answers.

R.I.P. It or Ship It Book Tag

rip it or ship it

Hi guys! Today I’m doing the R.I.P. It or Ship It Book Tag. This tag was created by emmmabooks and I was tagged by Saba from BookMates. For this tag  you need to put characters names into a jar and pick two at random. After that you decide if you rip them or ship them. This is going to be a little hard to me because I love my ships and I don’t want to see them with other people but I’m going to try to forget that for the sake of this tag. So let’s start it.

Round 1

Katniss and Jace

I would probably ship them. I actually think that sometimes Katniss is similar to Clary so Jace would probably like her. I also think that Katniss needs someone a little bit stronger than Peeta (but I still love Peeta =) ). So yeah, I SHIP them.

Round 2

Hermione and Harry

This is one that can bring some discussion but Hermione and Harry would be great together and even J. K. Rowling agrees with that. I know that there will be someone who will not like this but I absolutely SHIP them. Hermione and Harry are made for each other.

Round 3

Isabelle and Edward

Imagine a girl like Isabelle with a guy like Edward… Are you able to do that?? NO, because Isabelle would never date with someone like Edward. Edward needs someone to take care and Isabelle is not one of that girls. I will RIP IT.

Round 4

Adam and Simon

I don’t like Adam and I love Simon so I don’t want Simon to have to deal with someone like Adam. I would RIP IT.

Round 5

Celeana and Sebastian

Celeana is such a badass character that I’m pretty sure that she would hate Sebastian and would kick is ass and kill him so let’s RIP IT.

Round 6

Clary and Alec

This could never happen, like NEVER. Alec would never steal his best friend’s girlfriend and I don’t think that they match att all. Let’s RIP IT.

Round 7

Will and Peeta

I love both characters (especially Will Herondale) but I can’t see them together. They would not match and Will deserves to be with me so I would RIP IT.

Round 8

Bella and Etienne

Bella is such a needy girlfriend that I don’t think that St. Clair would like her. And what would she do when he had is girlfriend??? Stupid things like always??? Probably. I would RIP IT.

Round 9

Anna and Jem

They would make such a cute couple. Jem is such a sensitive guy and I think that he and Anna would make a great couple. Let’s SHIP IT.

Round 10

Juliette and Chaol

I don’t know but I think that I would SHIP them together. Don’t ask me why. I just think that they would be great together. I SHIP IT.

Round 11

Magnus and Ron

Let me see… I don’t think that Ron would be able to handle Magnus’s awesomeness. Magnus is to sassy for Ron so I’m going to RIP IT.

Round 12

Dorian and Warner

I don’t think so. Warner needs to be with Juliette and no one else. Let’s RIP IT.

Round 13

Tessa and Voldemort

Oh yeah. Tessa and Voldemort sitting in a tree… NEVER. No one deserves someone like Voldemort (maybe Umbridge does but she got someone better, you will see it XD). Let’s RIP IT

Round 14

Tris and Four

Ups… this happened. Awkward. I think that this one is a no brainer at all so yeah, let’s SHIP IT

Round 15

Umbridge and President Snow

This one is the best ship ever. I would totally SHIP IT. They are both so despicable people that they would be great together. And they will only ruin one house.

So this is it. The R.I.P. It or Ship IT Book Tag. I will not tag anyone in particular but if you want to do this tag do it and tell me in the comments. I would love to see it.

T5W – Characters I Want to Drown

It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Characters I Want to Drown.  Let’s start this list.

5. Tris Prior – Divergent

The truth is that I only want to drown the Tris that appears in Allegiant (and sometimes in Insurgent too). That girl makes so bad decisions in that book that I couldn’t handle it.

4. Richie – Eleanor & Park

If you don’t remember Richie is Eleanor step-father. The way he treated Eleanor and her family would normally get me mad and I wanted to drown him (and sometimes even worse).

3. Adam Kent – Shatter Me

I loved Adam in the first Shatter Me book but that took a turn when I started Unravel Me. His decisions and the way he treated Juliette. I wanted to pull my hairs every time I had to read anything that he said.

2. Bella Swan – Twilight Saga

Oh Bella. I hated how she was so dependent of Edward especially in New Moon. And the situations that she put herself in.

1. America Singer – The Selection

America Singer is the reason why I haven’t read The One yet. I actually liked her in the beginning of the first book but then she started making stupid decisions. And let’s not talk about the stupid love triangle. One chapter she loved Maxon and the other Aspen. Ugh… I just can’t deal with that and if I could I would drown her.

Characters I Want to Drown

This is it, the top 5 characters I want  to drown. Tell me, which characters have you included in your tops? Have you included any of these?

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West – Review

The Fill-In BoyfriendPublication Date:

May 5th 2015

Publisher:

HarperTeen

Goodreads Synopsis:

When Gia Montgomery’s boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she’d been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it’s not the real Bradley she’s thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn’t even know. But tracking him down doesn’t mean they’re done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend’s graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

Review:

This book was one of that books I was excited to read this summer. I’ve read The Distance Between You by the same author a few months ago during a reading slump and I decided to do the same last week. This book didn’t disappoint me. I read it in 4 hours and at the end I had the biggest smile on my face. The book starts in prom night when the main character, Gia, boyfriend breaks up with her right in front of school. After that she sees a guy sitting in the car and asks him to be the fill-in boyfriend so that her friends do think that she was lying. At the start I didn’t Gia at all. She was a shallow girl who only cared about other people would think about her and you could see that in the first pages. But it was possible to see her development through the book and how she discovered herself. I loved the Fill-In Bradley and his sister Bec and their relationship as siblings. The Fill-In Bradley also had his problems but I liked how his story ended. The way that Gia and the Fill-In Bradley’s relationship developed was pretty cute. But let’s talk about Gia’s friends. Really? You’re best friend of years never lied to you but you still believe another girl who you’ve known for less time that the boyfriend might be fake?? If my friends did it they would not be my friends for that long. But well if that didn’t happened there was no book. I was sad about the way the book ended. I just wanted a little bit more but I really liked this book.
Overall, this was a super cute and cheesy contemporary book that makes you smile the whole time you’re reading and the few hours after. If you like these kind of books you should read it.

Book Covers Around the World #5

Hi guys. Today I bring you another edition of Book Covers Around the World. Today the book series chosen is Harry Potter. Let’s be real, Harry Potter one of the best known book series ever so I needed to do this. Because we are talking about such  successful books today I will only talk about some of the british and american editions because there are a lot, like a lot of different editions and I would have to stay here a whole week to talk about all of them. So yeah, today I’m talking about some of the british and american editions. Maybe I will do a post about international editions in a few weeks. But first let’s start this post.

Bloomsbury Children’s Edition

harry potter 2

These are the original covers and I think that is common sense when I say that everyone likes these covers. These covers really represent the plot and story of each book and I like that this is something that happens in almost of the different editions.

Original Scholastic Edition

harry potter 1

These are the american covers. I love these covers mostly because these where the covers that were used in the portuguese editions which means that I grew up looking for these covers every time I went book shopping. They were there every time. Once again the different images represent the plot for each book and I quite like it.

Bloomsbury Adult Edition

harry potter 5

These are the first adult covers that were released in the UK. Once again each cover is right for the plot of each book but I don’t like these. I don’t know why. Maybe because they are to adult or because I’m used to the other covers. I just don’t like these as much. But at least these aren’t the worst covers. Want to see what I’m talking about??

Bloomsbury New Adult Edition

harry potter 6

THESE… These covers are just terrible. These covers are the new adult editions and they are just terrible. I know that the background image is related with each book but that doesn’t help. I don’t like how different they are and how the only thing you see in these covers is the title and the author name. I don’t understand what the cover designers had in their heads when they did these.

Bloomsbury Signature Edition

harry potter 3

Once again these covers are amazing and relatable to the plot. These would be best adult covers than the last ones. I like how these covers are designed and how they look a little bit growth up.

15th Anniversary Edition

harry potter 4

These are my favorite covers. I really want to buy the box set. They are so amazing. And the best part is that when you have all the books in the bookshelf the spines have Hogwarts like this:

It’s amazing. Just tell me the truth. Don’t you want to have this box set in your bookshelf?? I would love to have it.

So this is it. What did you think? Which one is your favourite? Don’t forget, if you want to see the different covers for one particular book tell me in the comments. It could be the next one.

City Love by Susane Colasanti – Review

City LovePublication Date:

April 21st 2015

Publisher:

Katherine Tegen Books

Goodreads Synopsis:

Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna are living together in New York City the summer before their freshman year of college begins. With no parents, no rules, and an entire city to explore, these three girls are on the verge of the best summer of their lives.

Sadie is a native New Yorker. She is hopeful, romantic, and an eternal optimist who is ready to find her soul mate. Then she meets her dream boy: cute, funny, and quirky in all the right ways. The chemistry between them is unreal. Could he be the one?

Darcy is a free spirit from SoCal with rebellious tendencies and unlimited financial resources. Moving to New York City is just another adventure for her. Darcy wants this summer to be all about boy adventures—nothing serious. But how much fun is too much?

Rosanna leaves Chicago for NYC so she can put her past behind her and reinvent herself. The only thing standing in her way is the grand total of seventy-three cents she has saved. Then she meets a guy who wants to show her the glamorous side of New York—a side that she would never get to experience on her own. If Rosanna doesn’t resist, she may find herself in city love.

Told from alternating points of view, City Love captures the moments in each girl’s life when everything is thrilling, amazing, and terrifying all at once . . . in a way it will never be again.

Review:

When I heard about this book I was pretty excited to read it. This book screamed Summer to me so I waited until now to read it. Unfortunately this book disappointed me a little bit. The main characters seemed to childish in some of the situations and I just couldn’t stand Sadie most of the times. Actually Sadie was the character that I liked less in this book. I didn’t have a lot of problems with Rosanna and Darcy but I just didn’t connect with any of these characters. I would like that the author would focus a little bit more in the main characters friendship instead of their love life. And that ending. I didn’t even know that I was in the end of the book because it was so unexpected. And I didn’t even knew that this book was a part of a series. However that ending is going to make me read the next book and maybe the characters will become more relatable. Something I loved about this book was the New York descriptions. This book is not only about the love in the girl’s life but also about the love that they feel for New York and, most importantly, the love that the author feels for the city. After reading this book I just want to visit New York even more that I wanted before.

Overall, this was a cute contemporary romance but I just didn’t connect with the characters. If I were you I would probably give it a try especially if you like these type of books.

T5W- Books I’ve Read in One Sitting

It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Books I’ve Read in One Sitting. Because this is something that happens quite often I needed to reduce my list a little bit but I made (with a little bit of cheating included, like always). Let’s start this list.

5. A Walk to Remember – Nicholas Sparks

A Walk to Remember

I know that a lot of people don’t share the same opinion as me but I love Nicholas Sparks and I don’t have problems in saying that. I’ve read all of his books and this one is still one of my favorites. I read it in on afternoon. But want a recommendation? Don’t try to watch the movie right after you finish the book. It’s not a good idea. Believe me, I know it.

4. My Heart and Other Black Holes – Jasmine Warga

My Heart and Other Black Holes

This one of my favorite books I’ve read this year so far and I just couldn’t leave it. When I started it I knew I would be reading it until the end in that day.

3. Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door – Stephanie Perkins

anna and lola

Funny story, I’ve read these books in one weekend. Yep, that happened. I started Anna and the French Kiss on saturday afternoon and finished it. After that I decided to read  Lola and the Boy Next Door on sunday afternoon. I just had to read them without stopping.

2. ConfessHopelessLosing Hope and Slammed – Colleen Hoover

colleen hoover

Normally when I start a book by Colleen Hoover there is a big probability of finish it on that day. Actually on that night. That happened with these four books and with all of them someone stayed up reading until 4/5 am. It just happens. I just need to read them in one sitting because I need to know how everything ends and what happens.

1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower -Stephen Chbosky

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I’ve read this book at least two times and I always read it in one sitting. When I start this book I just can’t leave it in the middle and I have to read everything. This book is just amazing.

This is it, the top 5 books I’ve read in one sitting. Tell me, which books have you included in your tops? Have you included any of these books?

The Coffee Book Tag

coffee book tag

Hi! I’m back today with another book tag. I wanted to write a review today but someone is in a reading slump and that’s something that doesn’t help when you want to write reviews. But let’s forget about that. Today I’m answering to the Coffee Book Tag that was created by BangadyBangz from booktube. So let’s start it.

1. BlackName a series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.

The Selection

Probably The Selection by Kiera Cass. It’s not that I don’t like the books but it took me a long time to get into the story and most of the times America annoys me. I think that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t read The One yet.

2. Peppermint mocha: Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

Harry Potter

These books are already pretty popular but the true is that everyone reads or re-reads Harry Potter in the winter. I understand. I started reading it last winter. It’s something that almost everyone does.

3. Hot chocolate: What is your favorite children’s book?

Narnia

Probably The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The ones that I’ve read so far are amazing (But let’s just forget that I never read them when I was a kid. It’s something that started only 1/2 years ago =P).

4. Double shot of espresso: Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)

Well, that happens with a lot of books but I think that most recently that happened with Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. That book is a rollercoaster from the beginning to the end.

5. Starbucks: Name a book you see everywhere.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)

There is a book series that everyone talks and that’s everywhere I go and that books are Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s everywhere and it was worse when the movie was released. And the worst part: just because you love to read people assume that you’ve read it even thought you didn’t. And now everyone talks about the new book that is going to be released.

6. That hipster coffee shop: Give a book by an indie author a shoutout.

True Calling (True Calling #1)

The True Calling trilogy by Siobhan Davis. The first two books are out and I had the opportunity to read them. They are amazing. You can read reviews for True Calling and Beyond Reach here and here.

7. Oops! I accidentally got decaf: Name a book you were expecting more from.

Gone Girl

I have to say Gone Girl. I have heard amazing thing about this book but it was a big let down for me. I think that Dark Places is better than Gone Girl but everyone talks about the last one and I don’t understand why.

8. The perfect blendName a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

infernal devices usa original

Let’s be real. You didn’t think that I would answer a tag and not talk about Cassandra Clare, right? Because I always talk about Cassandra Clare. The Infernal Devices is one of the best series that I ever read and while reading I went through a mix of feelings. These books have everything and the ending is just amazing. And let me tell which series is the runner-up. Obviously The Mortal Instruments. Cassandra Clare is a genius and her books are incredible.

These are my answers. But before I end this post I’m tagging:

Warisha at Warisha Reads

Panda at Panda’s Books

Saba and Hafsa at BookMates

Trey at Trey Schnarr Books

Analee at Book Snacks

And I also tag everyone who wants to answer to this tag. If you do it just tell me in the comments so I can see your answers.

I would love to read your recommendations.
