Book Traveling Thursdays #22 – An Inspiring Book

Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is New Year, New You! Choose a book that inspires you. I decided to choose Diary of a Young Girl. I choose this book mostly because I love and I’m really interested in books about World War II and holocaust so why not choose one of the most well-known books in the world, right? Let’s go see some covers.

Original Covers:

Technically the first one is the original one because it’s the actual diary but the original published book is the second one shown here. I don’t like this cover but for something that it was released in 1947 it’s a pretty good cover.

Covers from my Country (Portugal):

The first cover is the one that I own and I really like this cover. I know that normally I don’t like faces in covers but this one is different because it’s a non-fiction book  and that are real pictures and not just someone pretending to be Anne Frank. I also like that part of the cover is similar to the actual diary. The second cover is just too weird and I don’t like it at all. I understand what they were trying to do but I think that it wasn’t executed that well.

Favorite Covers:

I already explained you why I like the portuguese cover before. I like the brazilian and US covers because they are simple but beautiful covers and for this book I think that works.

Least Favorite Covers:

I’m not even going to explain again why I don’t like this portuguese. The brazilian cover is weird and creepy. What did they had in their minds. Why is Anne Frank disfigured?? I don’t like the mexican and italian covers because I don’t see the actual book in that covers.

So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂
