Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is Crying is not always bad. Choose a book that made you ugly cry. Fun fact: I rarely cry while reading but I almost cried when I read The Fault in Our Stars (by John Green) and the only reason I didn’t was the fact that I was in a try on my way home and I didn’t want to cry in front of a lot of people. However, I did cry like a baby when I saw the movie for the first time (and also the second time) so I think it’s a good choice for this week theme.
Original Cover:
I love this cover. I like the colors and I think it’s cute. Also, by now this cover became iconic because every time someone sees something like that knows that it is related to The Fault in Our Stars.
Covers from my Country (Portugal):
We actually have two different covers in Portugal. That’s something that doesn’t happen all the time. The first cover is the one that was released first and the second one is a special edition and it might look weird in the picture but it’s actually gorgeous because it’s silver and shiny. I really like the portuguese covers but especially the special edition one.
Favorite Covers:
As I said I love the original cover and the portuguese special edition. I also like the Barnes and Noble special edition that once again is silver and shiny (it looks like I like shiny things 😛 ).
Least Favorite Covers:
I don’t like these covers at all. The one from Lithuania is weird, the dutch one makes me think of an astronomy book and don’t even make me talk about the last two. I really don’t like any of these covers.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂
This book is the definition of ugly crying !

You selected the book that made me cry too! I didn’t really knew how it ended (no one gave me any spoilers!) so I just kinda found it unexpected.
And the Swedish cover is really weird! What’s with the skull anyway? ;P

I’m not sure but I think I didn’t know too.
The swedish cover is terrible. I don’t understand why they would do that

I had forgotten how much I cried in this book! lol
My goodness, what is up with the Swedish cover? Is that really for The Fault in Our Stars??

According to Goodreads is a The Fault in Our Stars cover. Why would they do something like that?? I have no idea

This was so interesting to look at, I think the Portuguese and UK ones are the best. The UK one is very simplistic and the Portuguese one is so pretty I love it!

what’s up with those last two of your least favorites?

I can’t understand. One looks like a kid’s book and the other one I can’t even imagine what the designers had in their heads to do that

I remember John Green tweeting the Swedish cover a while back, I think he liked it XD I’ve seen it in person and it actually looks quite cool then, it’s got a lot of symbolism. The title means “Sooner or later I’ll explode” which is both fitting and sad. I love the original cover though as well as the Portuguese, but I prefer the one with the blue sky 😀

I didn’t because I was on the train. However Î had tears on my eyes. Sometimes I’m thankful for sunglasses XD

I really liked this book as well, though I didn’t cry hardcore. I naively thought that the covers worldwide for TFIOS would just stick with the original cover. Gosh that Sweden cover…

Some countries should maintain the original cover. It would be better than some of these covers

I love TFIOS! And I do like the original cover the best, but the international ones are pretty great as well. I think the Indonesian or Swedish ones are my favorites out of the ints. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
