It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top Books I Did Not Finish. I normally try to not DNF books and I keep saying that I’ll get around to read it again. This means that the books in this list are books that I plan to finish anyway. So let’s see some of the books I have yet to finish .
4. Shattered Blue (The Light Trilogy #1) by Lauren Bird Horowitz
This book is an eARC that I still have to finish. The blurb looked super interesting because it’s a book that has Faes however it was to slow for me and it had a lot of tropes that I didn’t like insta-love. Also, I’m pretty sure that it would have a love triangle. However, like all the other books, I plan to finish.
3. The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence
I bought this book because it was a super cheap hardcover that I’ve found months ago. The book is really interesting but I just wasn’t in the mood to read it so I’m not even halfway through. I plan to read it again but it has been unread for about 6 months.
2. Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander #2) by Diana Gabaldon
I really don’t like to have this book in this list but I couldn’t finish this book. I absolutely loved Outlander but this one was just too slow for me. I only have 250 pages left but I just can’t read it now. Maybe I’ll try when season 2 starts.
1. Emma by Jane Austen
This one is the only one that I don’t plan to finish. I love Jane Austen but I just hated Emma. I couldn’t stand the main character and I had to DNF this book. I hate to do this to one of the Jane Austen books but I’ll not read this book at least in the next few years.
These are some of my Books I Still have to Finish. Have you read any of this books? Which books have you DNF?
I think the recent book I dnf would be Armada by Ernest Cline. I do plan to pick it up again to try to finish it. But yeah they book disappointed me.

Because I never read Ready Player One I didn’t have problems with Armada. I know that there are a lot of people who didn’t like Armada because it wasn’t as good as RPO

Yup that’s pretty accurate. I think there’s a lot of factors that led to disappoint readers. For me, it’s because the characters he used are similar to the ones in RPO, but less cooler in a sense. Also, I’m not a huge sci-fi reader, so the premise of the novel didn’t stick with me long enough. Plus, he took 40% of the book to create exposition for the novel, exposition is fine and all, but I was kinda looking forward to a more fast paced novel.
I actually stopped reading right after the exposition was done, so at least when I go back to the novel I can just pick up where I left off.

I didn’t do a list this week because I never DNF books. I wish I could put them down like you do but I know if I do, they’ll never ever get picked back up so I just push on until the end haha

To be honest there’s only one book that I actually picked up after DNFed it, and it was years later

Ohh… that’s a tough question. I’ve DNF’d more books in these past two months than I

Ever before in my life. I think the saddest DNF I did was putting down Zeros – I might try it again later, but I couldn’t get into it.

I’m bad with Classics. I’ve tried to read them but I always loose interest!

I really like classics and I’ve read all of Jane Austen books but I just can’t read this one

Maybe I just need to find the right one.

SO with you on ‘Emma’! I couldn’t with that book — Emma is such an unlikable, arrogant main character that I just couldn’t get behind any of her actions.

I saw Emma on several lists today, but I never read it myself XD the latest book I didn’t finish was A Great and Terrible Beauty, I just couldn’t stand the main character

It’s the same reason why I didn’t finish Emma. I just couldn’t stand her

Shattered Blue was hard to get through for me. I can confirm that there is a love triangle, however it’s very minor on one side. It gets better during the latter half of the novel but I found the first half to be excruciatingly hard to progress through.
Good luck with reading all of these!

I think I left it in the point you say it gets better. Maybe I’ll try to pick it up again 🙂

I’m not really sure what it was but I just didn’t like the few chapters of Shattered Blue that I got through! Usually I do plan to finish a DNF eventually but the characters and style just didn’t work with me! I suppose everyone has books like that but good luck with finishing it and the other books as well!

I understand what your telling. I read about 50% of Shattered Blue and it took me long time because it wasn’t working but I’ll try anyway. I hate to DNF books
