Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
This weeks theme is Every author has to start from somewhere. Choose your favorite debut novel. I already used most of my favorite debut novels so today I decided to feature a book that I don’t talk that often. Because of that I’m choosing The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I loved this book and while I haven’t read The Mime Order I know I’ll love that one too. So let’s see a few covers:
Original Covers:
These are the original hardback and paperback editions and I love these covers so much. I love the colors used and the images. I just think these are some beautiful covers. As much as I love both covers the hardback is still my favorite.
Cover from my Country (Portugal):
This book was actually released a long time ago in Portugal which is quite surprising. I love that they kept the original aesthetic but they used a different blue. I really love this cover as much as I love the original ones.
Favorite Covers:
As I said before I love the original hardback and the portuguese covers. Another cover I love is the new cover. It’s quite different from the original ones but I still like the new look and the colors used. I’m a sucker for white covers so it’s obvious that I would love this one.
Least Favorite Covers:
I don’t hate any of these covers but for some reason I wouldn’t think of The Bone Season if I saw them out there. I know they all have some kind of element of the original covers but I don’t like the color schemes used on these. But I do like that the cover from Vietnam looks like a tarot card. That’s cool.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂

I love the original covers, this is a book that is on my TBR waiting to be picked up and I also love the new covers. I’m the same as you, i’m a sucker for a white book cover and the blue in it looks like it will contrast beautifully and stand out!

This is why I say I don’t talk about this book enough. You don’t even know I read it :P. I think I read it almost two years ago. It was one of that impulse buys when I went to Fnac one day XD.
I don’t know if I can explain that well because it’s a little bit complicated but it’s about a 19yo girl, Paige, who is clairvoyant. This is in the future and clairvoyant are normally killed because of the powers they have and she has to hide and work at the criminal underworld in future London. She ends up being kidnapped and taken to a secret city that is controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Then stuff happens. It’s pretty cool but confusing in the beginning.

I like the original covers.
I have seen this book almost everywhere but I don’t even know what it is about. It’s a trilogy, right? Because I think the last book’s cover was revealed today? It’s all over my twitter.

No, it’s actually a seven books series. That’s why some people compared J.K. Rowling in the beginning (even if the books are completely different from Harry Potter). The cover for book 3 was released a couple of weeks ago 😀

I haven’t heard of this book before! I love the originals. There are definitely some bad covers with this one!

The original cover is beautiful. I’ve never heard of this book, but I’ll read the blurb on Goodreads now. That cover from Vietnam *does* look like a tarot card. LOL

I definitely agree with you about the covers! I still think that my favorite is the original US cover. Great pick Catia!

I think I might actually like Vietnam or Bulgaria’s covers better. Not really sure why, but they’re just more pleasing to my eye.
