Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.

Book Traveling Thursdays #7 – Fall is finally here!!
For this week we had to choose a book that brings nostalgic ‘fall feelings’. There is a book that brings me a lot of nostalgic feelings (Meet me Under the Ombu Tree) but I used it for the monster of a book week (check it out here) so I had to choose another one. So for this theme I decided to choose a book that I really loved and for some reason every time I think of a book I feel nostalgic. Once again I bring you a book that I normally don’t hear people talking about that is called The Sugar Queen and was written by Sarah Addison Allen.
Original Cover:
I don’t like this cover at all and let me tell you that I probably wouldn’t read this book based only on its cover and that would be a bummer because I really loved this book. I can’t tell you exactly why I don’t like but I just feel that it’s not the right cover even if the picture is beautiful.
Cover from my Country (Portugal):
Let me just tell how much I love this cover and every Sarah Addison Allen portuguese editions. All the books have a similar design to this one (with the exception of the last book 😦 ) and I just love it. I really feel that this cover is a little bit magical and that’s totally related to the author books and the covers are gorgeous. Honestly the covers is the reason why I started reading Sarah Addison Allen’s books. I saw a book with a gorgeous cover, bought it and don’t regret it because they are great books.
Favorite Covers:
As I said before I love the portuguese editions but I also love the US paperback. Once again, I just think that it the cover brings some kind of magical aspect and it’s a different cover. I really like both of these covers.
Least Favorite Covers:
The first of my least favorite covers (France) reminds me of a cooking book and if I saw it I would think that it was one. I also don’t like the russian cover. I think that the picture is not the right picture for this book and once again I wouldn’t buy a book with this cover.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂 .
T5W – Favorite Title Fonts on Covers
It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Favorite Title Fonts on Covers. I really like to appreciate the aesthetics of book covers but to be honest fonts is the last thing that I tend to notice. However this list made appreciate the fonts and understand how important they are in the final cover So let’s start this list.
The Lunar Chronicles – Marissa Meyer
I think that this font is really beautiful and it adds something to the cover itself. Not only that but it also looks a little bit futuristic for some reason 🙂 .
The Peach Keeper (Portuguese Edition)– Sarah Addison Allen
This is one of that books that I don’t hear anyone talking about and it makes me a little bit sad because Sarah Addison Allen has beautiful books. To be honest I love all of the portuguese edition covers of Sarah Addison Allen’s books and I think that the font is one of the things that caught my attention when I first saw this book (that and the beautiful cover also). The thing is that I really like the handwritten fonts and this one is just beautiful. However I’m mad now because the last book that was released here didn’t have this type of cover (an font) and now it doesn’t match with all the other beautiful books that I have that were written by the author.
Confess – Colleen Hoover
I really like the font that is used in this cover (and I loved the book). I like how the title is the main point of the cover and I love the colors used in the font. Is really gorgeous.
My Heart and Other Black Holes – Jasmine Warga
One thing I love in titles is when people mix different fonts in the title. I do it a lot of the times in my post headers. Because of that I really like the fonts used in this cover. One thing important is that the different fonts need to look good when they are together and it really worked in this cover.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky
What a shock!! The Perks of Being a Wallflower in one of my lists (like it doesn’t happen almost every week 😛 ). I really love how the title looks handwritten and the words in the back. It really makes a beautiful cover.
Honorable Mentions:
These are some of my favorite book title fonts. What about you? Which books did you included in your top? Tell me in the comments.
T5W – Summer Covers
Hi. It’s wednesday again which means that it’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Summer Covers. So let’s start it and see which books I think have the best summer covers.
5. We Were Liars – E. Lockhart
You can see that this cover shows the main characters in the sea so I had to include this on my top. It is also a bonus that the story occurs during the summer.
4. Second Chance Summer – Morgan Matson
I have yet to read this book but this cover has summer written all over the place (including the title). I think that this would be a great summer read for me in this coming summer.
3. Huntley Fitzpatrick books
I have also yet to read all of this books but the covers are so summer that I had to include them. Maybe I will also read these in this coming summer. What do you think?
2. Since You’ve Been Gone – Morgan Matson
I actually read this last summer and it was so amazing. And look at the cover. It’s summer in one picture. So yeah, it had to be in my top.
1. Sarah Addison Allen books – Portuguese Editions
This covers scream summer to me and they are also really good summer reads. That’s why I’ve chosen them as my favorite summer covers. I had to put the covers that are used in the portuguese editions not only because these are the editions that I have but also because they are gorgeous. Just look at them
This is it, my top 5 summer covers. Tell me, which books have you included in your tops?
Top 10 Read Authors
Today I was trying to think what I should write about because I had no ideas. I could do a tag but I will be doing a lot of tags in the next weeks so I didn’t want to do it today. I decided that I could my Top 10 Read Authors. This list is going to be a little bit weird because I’m going to be talking about authors that I haven’t read in a few years but I’ve read a lot of books by these authors and they have to be in this list. So let’s start my top 10.
4 Books
Colleen Hoover
With the obsession I’ve been having with Colleen Hoover’s books, the probability of this number increase in the next few weeks is really, really high… trust me.
5 Books
Sarah Addison Allen
John Green
Gayle Forman
Jane Austen
What do I have to say about these authors? First of all, I don’t think I need to explain the Jane Austen thing. I’ve read all of her novels with the exception of Emma (I started the book but I didn’t like it so…) and I love all of them. The other three.. we are talking about authors that as soon as their books are out I will read them, except the Sarah Addison Allen books because I always wait to have them released in portuguese so they don’t mess my bookshelf. I want them to look well. Which reminds me, if you never read anything by Sarah Addison Allen you should. Her books always a little bit of magic and are amazing.
6 Books
Santa Montefiore
Have you ever heard about Meet me Under the Ombu Tree? It’s an amazing book. And what I like about Santa Montefiore’s books is that they can go from the main character childhood to his adulthood and I think that is amazing because you can see the characters development during the different stages of life.
7 Books
Lesley Pearse
I love that Lesley Pearse writes Historical Fiction Romance and I’ve tried to read all of her books that were released in Portugal. She writes amazing books and really big books… They scared me at first but I’m ok with that now
9 Books
Cassandra Clare
Nora Roberts
I think I don’t need to explain the Cassandra Clare thing. I love everything that has to do with the shadowhunters world and, obviously, I’ve read all of her books (Who’s excited with the new TV show?? I don’t know what to expect). About Nora Roberts. A thing you should know is that Nora Roberts is very popular in Portugal. Anyone who reads knows who she is. This means that I’ve read a few of her books when I was younger (but older than 18 =) ).
And the author I’ve read the most is with…
16 Books
Nicholas Sparks
I’m a hopeless romantic and I don’t care with what people say. As soon as Nicholas Sparks releases a book I will read it. I have to. That’s why I’ve read 16 of his books. I have one left and its the one he wrote with is brothers Three Weeks with my Brother. I really have to read it.
What about you? What are your Top 10 Read Authors?
