Disney Villain Book Tag
I was tagged by Kacie @ Kacie’s Bookshelf to do the Disney Villains Book Tag and because I love Disney I decided to answer it today. This tag was created by Chelsea Martin. Because I didn’t know what too choose for two of the categories I decided not to answer it. Let’s start it.
Maleficent: A book or book series in which there is an overwhelming sense of evil/doom
For this one I’m choosing the Throne of Glass series. I don’t know why but every time I’m reading it something evil happens in the book. So yeah, it was the obvious choice for me.
The Evil Queen (Snow White): A book or book series in which the villain tricks the hero
Do I need to explain this one? I’ve only read the first 5 books but every time, like every freaking time Voldemort manages to trick Harry.
Cruella de Vil: A book or book series in which the villain brings about their own demise
For this one I have to choose The Mortal Instruments series. And the reason I choose to put two covers? I needed because I’m talking about two different characters that are actually father and son. Everything that Valentine and Sebastian did led them to their demise, but mainly Valentine. He’s the one to blame.
Ursula: A book or book series that left you speechless
Is anyone surprised with this? I love The Infernal Devices. Actually I love everything that Cassandra Clare does but I love this series a little bit more than The Mortal Instruments so I picked it .).
Jafar: A book or book series in which the villain almost wins
I was going to choose City of Heavenly Fire for this one but I’ve already used it and I don’t want to repeat myself a lot. Because of that I pick A Court of Throns and Roses. If you’ve read it you know that a lot happened in that last chapters. And I’m not talking about Rhys OK? I’m talking about Amarantha.
Hades: A book or book series in which you can’t help but love the villain
Another one that was really obvious for me: Warner from Shatter Me. I know he’s not really a villain but he was and I couldn’t think of any other villain that I loved.
Scar: A book or book series with familial betrayal
Once again I will have two pick for this category. For the first one I will only say one thing: Insurgent. WHY???? My second pick is Nathaniel Gray from The Infernal Devices. I don’t know how he could do such thing too his own sister.
Hans: A book or book series with a villain you didn’t see coming
I was going to say Nathaniel Gray but I used that one in the previous category. Instead of that option I decided to choose Maven from Red Queen. I was not expecting it, like never. I needed to take a little break when I found out.
So this is it. I will not tag anyone in particular to do this tag. I will tag everyone who wants to do it. If you decide to do it just tell me in the comments and consider yourself tagged :).
Series That I Have Yet to Completed
Hi
The other day I made a post about all the book series that I have completed. Today I bring you the series that I have yet to finish. This list is going to be separated in three categories: series that are not completed (the last book is not out yet), series in which all books were released but I have yet the finish and series that for some reason I will not finish. So let’s see what I have yet to finish.
Series That are Not Finished Yet
The books I’m going to show in this part are not completed because there is a least one book that was not released yet and that I want to finish as soon as they are released. The exception to this are The Selection and The Bone Season because there is more than one book that has to be released. The Bone Season is going to have seven books and only two were released so this is going to be in my list for at least five more years.
The Lunar Chronicles
The Selection
Firebird
The Bone Season
Red Queen
Starbound
Red Rising
Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Outlander
Completed Series That I Have Yet to Finish
There are only two series in which all the book were released and I haven’t read it yet. These are The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. I know you are all going to be saying why didn’t read these books yet and there is an explanation. I didn’t read when I was younger and then I have been the last 9/10 saying to myself “You have to read these books”. A good thing is that I started both of the series and I want to finish them this year.
The Chronicles of Narnia
Harry Potter
Series I’m Not Planning to Finish
These are the series in which I read a book but I’m not planning to finish them. Mostly I will not read them because either I didn’t like the first book that much or I read bad things about them. The only exceptions are The Giver Quartet and Across the Universe. I’m not reading these because I’ve read it long time ago and I think that while I liked both books I have other things that I want to read before.
The Giver Quartet
Across the Universe
Delirium Series
Wolves of Mercy Falls
Caster Chronicles
These are the series that I have yet to finish. Have you read any of them? And what series do you think I should be reading? Tell me about it in the comments.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – Review
Publication Date:
February 10th 2015
Publisher:
Harper Teen
Goodreads Synopsis:
Graceling meets The Selection in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard’s sweeping tale of seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king’s palace. Will her power save her or condemn her?
Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood–those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.
To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard–a growing Red rebellion–even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.
Review:
This was one of the books that I had high expectations because all the hype that existed around it, and believe me, it didn’t disappoint. In some ways this book is similar to other dystopian books, but then there is also some unique characteristics about it. In Red Queen we have a world that is divided in two different groups, the Red and the Silver bloods. Mare, a Red blood, finds herself serving a Silver family, but not just any family, the royal family. While serving them she accidentally finds out that she has superhuman abilities like the Silvers, a fact that changes her life. At this point all the dynamic of the book changes making the book even better. I really liked this book. All the characters were amazing, even the villains, and the book was well written. This book might be similar to other dystopian books but at one point something happens, and let´s be real, that twist broke my heart. How could you do this to me Victoria, I wasn´t expecting it.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and it was one of that books that I didn´t want to end. I need to know what happens next. Now we just have to wait one year for the second book (I’m here impatiently waiting). If you love this type of books I would recommend Red Queen to you. You will not regret reading it.
