T5W – Least Favorite Tropes

It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Least Favorite Tropes. So let’s start this list.

5. The “Chosen One”

It’s not that I hate the “Chosen One” trope. The problem is that is been used so much and some times in terrible ways that I’m tired of it. I’m not saying that I would not read more books that use the chosen one trope but can they be well written please?

4. Insecure Female Characters

I have a lot of problems with the “I’m so plain/ugly and she’s so beautiful” thing when they are beautiful and even when they aren’t as beautiful. Please just stop writing characters like these and give them some self-esteem.

3. Miscommunication

Please just talk. Really just talk. Miscommunication in books only brings unnecessary problems. Just make your characters talk so we don’t have to read stupid things.

2. Love Triangles

I know that I said before that I like some love triangles. That’s true but only when they are well written. Unfortunately most love triangles are not that well written and are unrealistic. Not only that but they are so overused so can authors stop doing this please?

1. Insta-Love

I think that this is a problem for a lot of people. Insta-love is so unrealistic. OK, you can see someone and say that you are attracted to that person but you will not say that you love him/her after 5 minutes. That doesn’t happen in real life in shouldn’t happen in books.

These are some of the my least favorite tropes. What about you? Which characters tropes did you included in your top? Tell me in the comments.
