Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken – eARC Review

Cheater (Curious Liaisons, #1)Publication Date:

February 28th, 2017

Publisher:

Skyscape

Goodreads Synopsis:

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

Once again this was a buddy read with Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions so click HERE to read her thoughts about this book :).

This was my first Rachel Van Dyken so I didn’t know what to expect from it except that I had been hearing some really good things about it. Let me tell you that this was such a great surprise and I loved it!! It was just so funny and I just loved the characters and their connection.

This book might look a little bit weird because first of all the book is called Cheater and we know that Lucas cheated on his fiancée and will get involved with the ex-fiancée sister but it’s not weird because it was explained so well and everything was done in such a great way that it made everything better. I loved the story. I loved the fact that even thought Lucas and Avery have a big age gap they still had a connection while growing up and before he messed everything up. I loved Avery and Lucas not only together but also individually. Avery was such a great girl. She knew what she wanted and did everything she could to have her own life and live on her own. Lucas was so damaged and while he might had a weird lifestyle I still loved him a lot and I loved to see him realizing that he wanted something else. And don’t even make me talk about these two together because their connection wasn’t just physical. They also bonded a lot, especially when they were younger, and had a deep connection that made me love them even more together.

As I said, this was my first Rachel Van Dyken book but I’m already obsessed with her writing. It was super funny and I loved it. This book was told in a dual POV, which I love, but it also had some flashbacks that were amazing because it let us learn more about their past, what happened and how everything started. My only problem with this book was the time span. The book is set in only two weeks which makes everything look too fast.

Overall, I loved this book. It was hilarious and intense and I loved everything about it. I 100% recommend this one to everyone because it’s such an awesome read.
