BEING BROOKE

By Emma Hart

Release Date: December 13, 2016

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00027]

Blurb:

My name is Brooke Barker…

And I’m a freaking disaster.

No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.

Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.

The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.

The second problem? He’s my best friend.

My shut-up-and-put-harry-potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampon, kinda best friend.

And that’s all he can be, right?

Right.

Being Brooke is a standalone romantic comedy. Hilarious, super-sexy, and possibly highly inappropriate at times, this is the perfect feel-good read!

Once again this was a buddy read with Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions so go check her blog to read her thoughts about this book in the next few days :).

When I read the blurb for this book I got really excited because it looked so funny that I had to read it. Guess what? It was everything I was expecting and I freaking loved this book. Also, this has the best friends turned lovers trope and we all know I’m a sucker for that trope :P.

This is one of those books where none of the characters are perfect but you love them anyway. First we have Brooke. She’s far from being perfect and she’s a hot mess I loved her so much!! She was so funny a complete disaster… let’s just say I don’t feel that bad that I’m a disaster at adulting and especially in the kitchen XD. Brooke was awesome and I loved her internal ramblings. Cain was also amazing. He’s one of the best friends anyone could have. Need someone to put some furniture together? Call Cain. Need someone to bring you pizza? Call Cain. Need someone to bring you tampons n desperate times?? Yep… call Cain. He would do everything for Brooke and I loved him. I especially loved to see him with his family because that family is funny as hell. But even better than seeing Cain with his family? Seeing Cain with Brooke because those two could be cute as hell in their own way. I just loved those two together and the cuteness (and also hilarity) they would bring. They had an amazing chemistry and I still can’t understand why it took them so long to get together. My only problem with Cain is why in the hell did he date Nina?? I really can’t find an explanation for that.

However, my favorite part of this book had to be the trio of best friends: Brooke, cain and Carly. OMG!! Those three where the best thing ever. I loved them all together and how important they were for each other. Carly was just an awesome friend to both of them, but especially to Brooke. Look, I wouldn’t mind to read a book about Carly if it was as good as this one (also, it would be great if Zeke was heavily featured on that book XD). I just loved her.

This was my first Emma Hart book but I have to tell you that I’ll need to read more of her books because I just loved this one. I think her writing is pretty good and the story flew pretty easily. I just had a small problem. This book is only told from Brooke’s POV and while I liked it most of the times there were a few situations where I would have liked to know what was on Cain’s mind.

Overall, this was an awesome book. This is one of those books who took me completely by surprise and good thing it did because I loved it. If you’re in need of something fast and funny you should definitely give this one a try. Actually, you don’t need to want something fast, go read this book NOW.
