Book Traveling Thursdays #64 – Share the love around the world!

Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.

This week’s theme is Share the love around the world! Choose a book written by an author from a country you don’t read that often. So today I decided to bring you a book who was written by a swedish author. I’m going to be honest, I don’t normally read book that weren’t originally written in english but I did read The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson a couple of years ago and it was really funny so I decided to choose it for this week. So let’s see some covers for this book:

Original and Favorite Cover:

Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann

I actually like this cover. I don’t know why but it looks cool. It’s actually the first time I’m seeing this one but I love all the elements and how different of the edition I own and that I know.

Cover from my Country (Portugal):

Once again, this book is not out in Portugal yet so I don’t have any cover to show to you.

Favorite Covers:

The first cover, from the UK, it’s the one that I own. I really like the concept and the colors used in this cover. I also really like the way the title and the author’s name is shown. IT’s really cool. The other cover I really like is the one from Netherlands. I love how simplistic it is and I really like that the title is so important in the cover.

Least Favorite Covers:

Germany   –    Spain    –    Poland    –    Hungary

I know that the elephant is kind of important for the story but I really don’t like the cover from Germany… it has a weird look. I also don’t like the ones from Spain, Poland and Hungary because all of them look weird. I just think they could have done something different. I’m sure I wouldn’t even glance at this book if I saw it in a bookstore with these covers.

So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂

  1. I love how all the Dutch translations of Jonas Jonassen’s book have the same type of cover, most of them are white with a small illustration and the title in different colours. They look really nice together and you immediately recognize that it’s from Jonassen 🙂
I agree with your favourite covers, the UK cover and the Dutch cover are the prettiest!
