Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
This week’s theme is We all have to start out of somewhere. Choose a book that got you into reading. I knew right away which book I would be using this week. Fun fact, I didn’t like to read until I was 16 years-old. At that time I was required to read a book for my portuguese class and I loved it. I haven’t stopped reading ever since. This is not a book a lot of people like. It’s a great book but it’s a portuguese classic that it’s too descriptive and long at some points and people don’t like it. I loved it and that’s why this week I’m choosing Os Maias by Eça de Queirós. Because this is a portuguese book all the covers in this post will be from my country (Portugal). Also, this book was released in 1888 so I won’t have an original cover. I don’t have time to look for it right now XD. So let’s see some covers for this book:
Favorite Covers:
I really like these covers. I don’t know why but they all look really good. My favorites from these have to be the first one and the fourth one. Those are such gorgeous covers. But the other three are also pretty cool and if I could I would have all of them. Currently I only have the second one and I have to tell you that my edition is even older than me. That book belonged to my mom and to my aunt even before it was passed to me and I’m pretty sure it has around 30 years.
Least Favorite Covers:
I really don’t like these covers. I know it’s a classic and classics normally have terrible covers, but come on, couldn’t they have done something a little bit more good-looking? I don’t like especially the third and fourth covers. Nope… I wouldn’t want these at all.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂

I actually really like the third book cover in the Least Favorite list, strangely. There is something about the contrasting colors that I really enjoy. What is this book about?

I don’t really know how to explain it. It’s a romance set on the end of the 1800s about a young aristocrat and his friend. I also involves some kind of incest which is weird but still really good

Well, *that* sounds complicated. But intriguing!
