The Diverse Books Tag

the diverse books tag

Hi guys! Today I decided to do another book tag. I was tagged by Cristina My Tiny Obsessions to do The Diverse Books Tag and here it is. This tag was created by Naz @ Read Diverse Books. Thank you so much Cristina for tagging me. For some reason I haven’t read that many diverse books but I’ve been changing that in the past few months and I want to keep doing it. Because of that I won’t have picks for some of these books but I’ll do my best to complete this. Let’s see my picks for this tag :).

A Book Starring a Lesbian Character

Keeping Her SecretThis is not starting in the best way. Here’s the thing, I’ve read a lot off LGBT+ books but mostly with gay characters and not lesbian characters. Every book I’ve read that had a lesbian character they were secondary and not as important for the story and I can’t even remember in which books that happened. Actually I can remember one but because I finished it today. However, I’m starting Keeping Her Secret by Sarah Nicolas in the next few days and one of the main characters in this book is a lesbian so I’m making progress XD.

A Book With a Muslim Protagonist

And I Darken (The Conquerors Saga #1)0

Easy one… if I’m not wrong Radu from And I Darken by Kiersten White becomes a muslim during the book. This book not only has Radu as a muslim but it also has other characters and it’s a story that focus a lot in politics and religion so it’s the perfect pick for this one.

A Book Set in Latin America

Meet Me Under the Ombu TreeI could have chosen a few book for this one but I have to go with one of my favorite books ever, Meet Me Under the Ombu Tree by Santa Montefiore. This book is not YA at all but it’s amazing and loved it too bits. Honestly, it has been 8 years since I read it and I still think about Santi and Sofia sometimes. Anyway, this book is mostly set in ranch in the middle of the Argentine pampas and it’s amazing and I love it so much that when I read it I really wanted to go to Argentina.

A Book About a Person With a Disability

Maybe Someday (Maybe, #1)Soooo… SPOILER ALERT… Maybe Someday (by Colleen Hoover) might have a character with some kind of disability. I’m not telling who or what the character has because I don’t want to spoil anyone. I know a lot of people already know because this is talked in a few reviews but when I started this book I had no idea and I actually prefer when I don’t know these kind of things… Actually, I prefer to know nothing about Colleen Hoover’s books. I love that there’s always something in the beginning that surprises me.

A Science-Fiction or Fantasy Book With a POC Protagonist

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)This one was not easy. For some reason I couldn’t think of any POC protagonist in fantasy books but then I remembered one of my favorite series that has not one but two POC protagonists. I’m talking about The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Cinder, the main protagonist, is asian and Winter has dark brown skin. But I really need more fantasy and science-fiction books with POC protagonist so if you have any recommendation leave it in the comments.

A Book Written by an Indigenous or Native Author

This is the part where everything goes wrong because I’m pretty sure I never read a book written by an indigenous or native author. If you have any recommendations leave it in the comments.

A Book Set in South Asia

I’m almost sure I read at least one book set in South Asia… I’m 99.9% sure but I can’t remember which one. I don’t even know if I actually read one. I’m kind of ashamed of myself. Once again, if you have any good recommendations don’t forget to leave it in the comments section.

A Book With a Biracial Protagonist

Everything, EverythingI’ve been a very good girl in this tag so far but this is the time I have to steal one of Cristina’s answers and say Everything,Everything by Nicola Yoon. Maddie, the main character, is half african-american and half japanese and my favorite thing about this book is that Nicola wrote this for her own daughter who is also half african-american and half japanese. HOW COOL IS THAT???

A Book Starring a Transgender Character or Transgender Issues

This is “Cátia is ashamed of herself:Part 2” because she hasn’t read any book with a transgender character or with transgender issues. I’m sorry!! I don’t know what’s up with me. But hey, there are actually a few I want to read so that’s progress right?

This is it for The Diverse Books Tag. I’m tagging everyone who wants to do this tag to do it mostly because it’s late and I want to go to bed read :P. Once again, if you have any books you would like to recommend don’t forget to tell me in the comments.

What about you? What would be your answers?

  1. Hello! Thanks for doing the tag. 🙂 I’m actually the one who created it, but it seems that got lost along the way a while ago. haha The original tag stated that if you hadn’t read any books that fit a category, you could search for one that you think you’d like to write.

If you’re interested in finding more diverse books for the categories in which you haven’t read any, I created a master post for all the people who did the Diverse Books Tag. I’ll be adding yous as well.

Here’s the link to the master post. Hope you find a some interesting books! http://readdiversebooks.com/the-ultimate-diverse-reading-list/
