T5W – Book Theme Songs

t5w new header

It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This week theme is Book Theme Songs I actually did a post similar to this theme last year where I talked about songs that reminded me of books (you can see it here). I loved to do that post and I was planning on doing a part 2 eventually so this theme was perfect for me. I did have to think about it because I didn’t want to use only songs that are in soundtracks and stuff like that but I managed to have not only 5 but 6 songs for this week theme (even if two are for the same book). These are my picks for this week.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

The first song I decided to choose was pretty easy for me. If you don’t know Griffin Peterson collaborated with Colleen Hoover to create a soundtrack for Maybe Someday and since then he already did songs to Ugly Love and November 9 too. As you can see I could have a T5W full of Colleen Hoover books today. However I decided to choose the song November 9 mostly because I read that book last week and loved it. Also, the song is amazing.

Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O’Roark

Want to know a song I’m obsessed since Eurovision happened a couple of weeks ago?? I’ve been obsessed with Fire in the Rain by Måns Zelmerlöw . I already loved Heroes since he won Eurovision last year but my love for his songs grew up after he was a presenter in the show this year and after listening to this one I realized how much it fitted the book Waking Olivia. This song is perfect for this book and it pretty much describes Will and Olivia’s relationship.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

For this one I’m cheating a little bit and having two songs instead of one. The first one is Imagine Dragons new song Not Today and this one is actually part of the movie soundtrack. Anyone who knows me knows I love Imagine Dragons and all of their songs and this one is not different.

The second song I think about when I think about this book is Photograph by Ed Sheeran but mostly because the song is featured in the trailers. I still love the song so I decided to include it on this top.

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Anyone surprised with the presence of Malec and a Cassandra Clare book in here?? No. Okay, I’m not surprised too XD. If you watch the show Shadowhunters you know how important the song War of Hearts is important for Malec and since episode 12 that I’ve been obsessed with this song and I think about this song every time I think of Malec. So yeah, this song had to be in this post.

Hustler by Meghan Quinn and Jessica Prince

This song has a really funny story. This song has nothing to do with the book plot or the characters. However, when I got this book from NetGalley and started reading this song stayed in my head for a few days. Every time I would start the book or look at the cover I would start singing: “Na-na-na, diva is a female version of a hustla, of a hustla, of a, of a hustla… Na-na-na, diva is a female version of a hustla, of a hustla, of a, of a hustla…“. It was quite annoying and it’s been almost a month and sometimes I still start singing this.
