Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
This weeks theme is Choose a book that features your favorite LGBTQ couple. I’m pretty sure you’re thinking I’m choosing Malec again because I love them and they’re just too cute. Seriously… just look at these two. It’s impossible not to love them (I really need to stop using Malec gifs every time I have an opportunity XD).
However, because I already used The Mortal Instruments books a lot I decided to choose another of my favorite LGBTQ couples so today’s book is Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I just loved Simon and Blue way too much. Also, if you wonder why Blue has a big question mark covering him is just because I don’t want to spoil anyone who hasn’t read and wants to read this book. So let’s see some covers.
Original Cover:
I love the original cover. I love how simple it is, the design and the colors used. I just think this cover is perfect for this book and I love it.
Cover from my Country (Portugal):
For some reason this book wasn’t released in Portugal yet because young adult contemporary is still not huge in here but there are some ya contemporaries already published here so let’s hope this book will get here soon.
Favorite Covers:
As I said before I love the original cover but I also love the spanish one. The spanish cover is gorgeous. Once again is pretty simple but it kind of has the same feeling as the original one and I really like that. I also love the design they choose to use.
Least Favorite Covers:
I don’t hate the first to covers, I just don’t like them as much as the covers above. The only one I really don’t like is the one from Vietnam. I don’t think the rainbow was necessary. Yes this has LGBTQ characters but is it really necessary to express that on the cover like that?? I don’t think so. I also don’t like the font they used at all.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂
I picked this book too! But we definitely have different thoughts on the covers haha

It’s great to see different opinions about the covers. Can’t wait to see your choices 😀

i totally agree with you, especially about the one from vietnam, i think it simplifies the book too much, while it is about much more than being gay

I agree. Simon being gay is not the most important thing of that book. Yes, he’s gay… who cares??

that’s the point!!! The cover doesn’t work at all 😦

lmao at the Vietnam cover, it’ so over the top. I have still to read this book, but I’m really excited! Also, don’t like the German title, although the cover is not terrible (It means Only Three Words, does it match the book?).
I agree with your choices 🙂
Here is my BTT if you want to check it out. I chose Carol by Patricia Highsmith.

This book is really good. You need to read it.
I can’t remember if there are any three words important but it doesn’t fit that well

Malec make my heart sing haha I just love them SO MUCH ! And I automatically fangirl when they’re mentioned somewhere.
I yet have to read Simon vs. The Homo sapiens agenda but I’ll eventually get to it 😀

Germany really has so many WTF covers. And what’s with the title??? “Only three words” – how does that make any sense?

I can’t figure that out. What three words are they talking about?? I can’t see why it would have that title

Maybe it’s “I am Blue”? No idea, really! That’s definitely what I would think of first when I talk about the book.

I would like that. That’s a good possibility. I thought it could be “I am gay” but I would be really mad if that were the three words because Simon is so much more than that

Totally! I’d be mad too.

One thing that really annoys me is that Carlsen always puts their logo on the front of the book! They ruin so many amazing covers doing that!!!!! It really bugs me.

That’s true. I am mad at German publishers for multiple reasons. For example, a lot of them print their books weirdly. If you put the book down cover up on a table for example, the writing on the spine will be upside down. Like why? It’s a real menace when I am trying to pile them for the display in the shop.
