Goodreads Synopsis:

Five years.

That’s how long I’ve been gone. Since I left my best friend—the girl I loved—behind.

Five seconds.

That’s how long it takes to realize I am completely, utterly, screwed. Because now that I’m back, my childhood crush has turned into so much more.

Rylee has changed. We both have. And now I’m drawn to her in a completely different way. To her smile. Her touch. To reliving old memories and making new ones. To the happiness she’s always given me that I haven’t felt since I left.

But her friends are hell-bent on keeping us apart. My dad is one drink away from destroying both of our lives, and maybe I am, too. It’s only a matter of time before I have to leave again, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. I never get a choice.

The one choice I can make? Stay away from Rylee. Because if I don’t, I’ll break her heart—and mine—all over again.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains references to drinking, addiction, and just the right amount of angst. You’ll want to save this tortured hero, while at the same time, not want to change a single thing about him!

Once again, and by now you’re tired of hearing this, I read this book as a buddy read with Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions so you should click HERE to see her thoughts about this book :).

I wanted to like this book so much because it had so much potential but in the end I didn’t like this book that much and mostly because of the characters. I really didn’t like any of the characters at all. They were all so unlikable. I didn’t really liked Rylee. She really got to my nerves. First, if your childhood best friend leaves please don’t blame him for leaving and breaking your heart. Chase was a kid. He left because he had no choice so the fact that Rylee kept saying that he broke her heart when he left really got me mad. Also, I really didn’t like Rylee’s friends and how she changed so much when she was with them. They remind me of a clique and not in a good way. I didn’t like her friends at all even if I can see they were worried about her. Chase had the potential to be a great character if his angst was explained. I still don’t understand why that guy did the things he did. I would love to have a good explanation to that.

I think that this book had a lot of potential because the story was cute and I like the childhood best-friends kind of thing but in the end I couldn’t overcome the fact that I didn’t like these characters at all. The thing that saved this book for me is that there were some cute moments and you know how much I love cuteness.

Overall, this book was kind of a disappointment to me. While I was expecting so much more from this book I still think that some people might like it a lot more than I did, especially if you’re still in high school. I just think that I’m at an age where this is not really enjoyable to me.
