Book Traveling Thursdays #29 – A Book with a Character you Love to Hate

Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is Because some books have amazing villains choose a book with a character you love to hate! For this week theme I decided to choose Fairest by Marissa Meyer. As you might know (or not) The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series and Queen Levana is one of the best villains out there in my opinion. She does despicable things but I think she needs to be acknowledged as a great villain. So let’s see a few covers of Fairest.

Original and Favorite Cover:

I really like the original cover. It’s a little bit different from all the other covers from The Lunar Chronicles but I really like this one. I love that it has the same font used in the other books and I also really like the mirror showing Levana’s covered up face. I really, really like that.

Covers from my Country (Portugal):

unfortunately this book has still to be released in Portugal. I think they might release it soon because the first 3 books from The Lunar Chronicles are already out in portuguese but it hasn’t happened yet.

Least Favorite Covers:

Let me just start by saying that I don’t hate these covers. They are not bad covers but because this book doesn’t have  a lot of different covers I had to choose a few as my least favorites. My main problem with these covers is that every time I look at them I think about Little Red Riding Hood. Levana is not based of Red Riding Hood, Scarlet is, and I really don’t like that she looks like Red Riding Hood in these covers. I like that it has the mirrors and I like the designs but I can’t stop thinking about all that red. And let’s talk about the french cover. How many of you looked at it and thought about Voldemort?? Look at Levana’s face. The lack of nose makes me think of Voldemort and its weird XD .
