Unemployed. Broke. Maid of Honor.
All (unfortunately) words that describe Em Hayes.
Without any job leads in San Francisco, Em caves to her mother’s promise of free rent and returns home. Her best friend, Nikki, couldn’t be more thrilled. Em’s degree in Event Management is gathering dust, and what better way to put it to use than planning Nikki’s wedding?
There’s just one flaw in that plan: Cole Connors. The girls’ former roommate. And part of the reason Em hasn’t been back since college graduation.
Em’s never been able to forget Cole—or how close they were before she pushed him aside and ran for the hills. Cole’s never forgotten Em either— but in the past two years, she hasn’t given him much choice but to try.
And, according to Nikki, there’s no better pair to plan the wedding of her dreams.
Em’s usually good at squashing messy feelings, but being around Cole again brings them all rushing to the surface.
And this time, she’s not sure she wants to run.
Review:
*I was provided a copy by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This was a really easy read and fast-pacing but unfortunately I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to. I had a lot problems with the main character Em and couldn’t connect with her. I just couldn’t understand the reasons why she ran away and left her friends and family. I really tried and I thought that maybe something happened and it would be explained later. It was explained but it was a stupid reason. I understand that she lost her father and it was hard for her but she had no reason to behave the way she did for so long. I did like Cole but if I was him I would have moved on. He did everything he could when Em needed and she still treated him the way she did. Another thing I didn’t like was that these characters had no chemistry at all and I didn’t like their relationship. I thought that we could see a lot of development in the characters but nothing happened. The plot was basically Em being unlikable and “dealing” with her problems. I think that this might have been a good book if the author if Em had more character development because I quite liked the writing, I just didn’t like the main character.
Overall, this book was a bit of a disappointment. I really wanted to like it but unfortunately I wasn’t able to.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If you haven’t read it would you read it?
was this chick lit? or new adult? so, let me get this straight, she leaves everything because her dad died? and she ignores the guy, and then he accepts her back? =/ wow

It was NA. It’s even worse. Her dad dies when she’s in college and she goes back and finish college. She’s living with the guy and her other best-friend Nicki. She just rans away in graduation day without even saying goodbye. BTW, there’s one time when she tries to have “just sex” with Cole when it’s pretty obvious that he likes her -_-‘

WTF??? why? i don’t get it. was she super overwhelmed about her feelings? afraid? stupid? a bad person? and do they end up together? 😦

That was I wanted to know. I read that book but I still don’t understand. It looks like she had commitment issues because she didn’t want to be as heartbroken as her mom when her dad died. And yeah, they end up together

but she broke his heart… 😦

yep. Can you see why I didn’t like this book?? She did what she did and he still spend two years thinking about her. He would date other girls but it would always end because of his feelings for her. The worst thing is that she knew how he felt

and did she feel the same at least? was she in love with him the whole time too?

She was attracted to him and she couldn’t stop thinking about him but she did like him she wouldn’t do what she did and more

omg… did she use him? 😦 I wonder why I always end up taking the guy’s side…

No. She just would take other guys home when she knew how he felt about her. This after the “just sex” thing. In this case I’m in the guy’s side too

wow. and he knew about the guys?

If he was in the living room he could hear everything from her room. And she found at least one in the kitchen in the morning

Meh, it’s always sad when your expectations for a book or story aren’t met … I liked the cover though I am not sure I will ever pick it up. Probably not …

I loved the cover but it’s one of that cases that the cover is pretty but the book is not that good. If I had read it sooner it could have been in my T5W last week
