Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.
Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.
Review:
This book was one of my most anticipated releases of 2015 so I was really happy when I got this book in my hands but l have to be honest here. I skipped almost every part of the fan fiction in Fangirl. It’s not that I didn’t like it but I wanted to read more about Cath and Levi and not about the fan fiction. However that didn’t make me want to read this book less. I love Rainbow Rowell books and her writing style so I was extremely excited to see how that would work in fantasy book. Let me just tell you, I loved this book. The characters were perfect. I loved Simon and Baz (especially Baz) and how their relationship changed because of the things that were happening. And let me just tell you, they are so CUTEEEEE. I also loved Penny. She’s a great friend and I would love to have a friends like Penny in my life that is always there for you no matter what. I also loved the magical world that Rainbow Rowell created. People might say that this book has a few things that remind them of Harry Potter but Rainbow Rowell was able to create a different magical world where magic works in a different way. While I was reading this book I was able to predict a few things but let me just tell that everything that happened in the end surprised me anyway. My only problem with this books was that at the beginning it was a little bit too slow but everything changed when Baz got to Watford. One thing I need to talk about is the similarities to Harry Potter. Yes this book had a few similarities and sometimes it made me think of Harry Potter but that’s it. Most of the book didn’t make me think about it and I was happy about that.
Overall this was a great book. I love Rainbow Rowell’s books but I was a little bit scared because she’s known for contemporary and not fantasy. However this was a great book and if you like young adult fantasy you should give this one a try.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If you haven’t read it would you read it?
I’ve not read this one yet, but I think I’ll get it once it’s out in paperback. I’ve read some of Rainbow Rowell’s other books even though I’m not a huge fan of contemporary, so I kind of want to see how she handles fantasy 🙂

My copy is in paperback so maybe you can find it somewhere 🙂 . I really enjoyed this book. It’s not one of that fantasy books that it’s really detailed but it’s really good 🙂

That’s what I’d expected myself to do as well! But somehow, other books kept getting the priority… I need to get to this ASAP.

you know what Watford is right? You already know I loved this book to bits, so no point in repeating myself… oh, wait: I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK :D. I will admit, again, Carry On is now one of my favorite books, and it might have surpassed harry potter.

I never finished Harry Potter so it’s not that hard for me to like other books better XD

YES!!! I feel like that pun is lost on most people. I only know it because I’ve been there… TWICE! And as soon as I read it on Fangirl I was so happy for yet another reference to HP

I bought this book and stated reading it but I couldn’t get past the first few pages for some reason. Ugh. I suppose I’ll try again soon, because I have heard a lot of good things about it.

YAY! That was a great review! I have to admit that I only skimmed over the fan fiction bits in Fangirl as well. Why would you take away so much time from Cath and Levi? hahaha But still, I was super excited about this book as well and I am glad we both loved it 😀

Right?? I wanted to read more about them and not Simon and Baz when I was reading Fangirl 😀

Baz. *sigh*
My only problem with this book was that I felt I was reading a book from the middle of a series.
Great review! 🙂

I know. There was a lot of things that Simon talked that made this book look like it was the last from a series.

Thanks. That was one of the reasons I wanted to read this too. I knew that she writes amazing contemporary books but I didn’t know about fantasy.
