Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is Yesterday was Cuddle Up Day!! Choose a book that makes you feel warm and cozy. I decided to choose Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins because this book is just too cute and makes me happy. Let’s go see some covers.
This is the original cover and like everyone else I’m not very fond of this cover but it’s not one of the worst covers that I’ve seen. The thing is that I don’t like faces in covers and his that supposed to be Anna?? She doesn’t look like Anna to me.
Cover from my Country (Portugal):
Oh look, another ugly portuguese cover. I already told you a lot of times that sometimes the portuguese publishers like to mess the covers up and this is the case. I saw this book in the bookstore months before I heard about this book and I just thought that I didn’t like the cover and I would never read this book. Luckily I decided to read it anyway. I just don’t like the colors and how the girl doesn’t look like Anna. Also, the book didn’t sell that well here so the publisher decided to not publish the remaining books which is sad. I really think that the cover had something to do with the low sales.
Favorite Cover:
Do I have to explain why I love this cover?? This is an amazing cover and this is one of the few times I do agree with cover changes in the middle of the series. I love the colors and the background image. Another thing I love is how the title is all around the cover. Is just beautiful.
Least Favorite Covers:
I already told you how much I hate the portuguese cover. The only problem with the German is the girl. I really don’t like it. The French and Vietnamese covers are just weird, especially the one from Vietnam. Doves?? Really? I don’t like these covers at all.
So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂
I am so glad they redesigned the covers! I cannot imagine having those books with the original ones at home … horror!

I know. The covers are so bad, especially the cover for Lola. It’s so creepy

I think they were really just going for it with the wig hahaha

Haha… I have to agree with that XD

I think they could have nicely pulled off the French one with a different colour scheme. The image isn’t so bad, but the colour scheme just ruins it completely.

Oh my god! I chose the exact same book and I agree with everything you said. I was thinking of picking the Portuguese cover too but then I chose the German one.

The portuguese cover is so ugly. I still don’t understand what they had on their minds

It’s so easy to say “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” but I know for a fact that I never would’ve picked up Anna and The French Kiss if I had seen any of those covers. I doubt I would’ve even read the blurb! Changing the US and UK covers was honestly the best thing that could’ve been done for the book because it must have boosted the sales by a lot!

I totally agree with that and that’s also the reason why I didn’t even read the blurb when I saw the portuguese edition. The cover was terrible. I’m really happy that they changed the US and UK covers because if they haven’t done it I’m pretty sure a lot of people wouldn’t have read the books

Oooh, I think the French one is beautiful! 😀 The Vietnamese one is kind of nice too. The original is so awful, I’d never pick that book up in a million years.

I just recently got my mom to read this book 🙂 haha. I totally agree with what you said about the Portuguese cover, they really affect sales a lot of the times and publishers either ignore it or don’t know about it because it happens to a lot of books in other countries.

It’s sad that it happened because now they won’t release Lola and Isla here and I’m pretty sure a lot if people would love to read that books

The Portugal cover isn’t good at all!

Oh god the Portuguese cover makes me cry, how did that get past the publishers? Totally agree that’s it’s the reason it didn’t sell well.

I loved Anna and the French Kiss! But you’re right some of those covers (the French one, WHY) don’t look really great. My favorite one is the same as yours! 😀
