Book Traveling Thursdays #14 – World Peace Day

Today is thursday which means that is Book Traveling Thursdays, a weekly meme created by me and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This weeks theme is World Peace Day was two days ago! Choose a book that deals with a war. For this week I decided to choose The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. Because this is a book with a lot of different editions I couldn’t see every single one and decided to choose only between a few. Let’s go see some covers.

Original Cover:

I just love this edition. It’s beautiful. I actually have the 70th Anniversary Edition that has the exact same dusk-jacket and it’s beautiful. Also, the dragon in the hardcover is amazing.

Cover from my Country (Portugal):

For some reason we only have the movie tie-in here. I can’t find another edition anywhere. While I quite like the movie tie-in I still think that is stupid that we don’t have another edition.

Favorite Covers:

I love all of these editions. As I said before the first one is the one that I own and it’s just beautiful. I also love the other three covers and every single one has something that I adore and makes it beautiful.

Least Favorite Covers:

I don’t know what’s in the head of these designers. The first one is just creepy. If that person is Bilbo let me just tell you that he looks like a kid. The cover from Finland is weird mostly because that person looks like an old lady and not a character from the book. The italian cover has nothing to do with the plot and is a little bit weird. I don’t even know what to say about the dutch cover. I don’t like it at all and it’s also weird. Another ugly cover is the russian one. Bilbo doesn’t look like a hobbit and Gollum looks like a monkey. Sorry, it’s not a good cover.

So this is it, this week Book Traveling Thursdays. What did you think of these covers? Tell me in the comments 🙂 .
