It’s that time of the week again when I bring you the Top 5 Wednesdays, created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This week theme is Top 5 Hunger Games Moments. This moments can be either from the books or from the movies so I decided to have moments from both. So let’s see some of my favorite Hunger Games moments .
5. Katniss volunteers as Tribute
This has to be one of my favorite moments not only from the books but also from the movies. The moment where Katniss volunteers so that Prim doesn’t have to go to The Hunger Games is where it all starts so I had the need to talk about this moment.
4. Johanna in the elevator
I’m pretty sure that this scene is only featured in the movie (I don’t remember this from the book but I read it about 4 years ago) but is so funny. The way that Katniss reacted to this situation was one of the funniest moments from the movie. Also, Johanna is one of the best characters.
3. The Epilogue/Last Sentence
I know that a lot of people don’t like the Epilogue but I loved it and I don’t care what other people think about it. And don’t even make me talk about the last sentence, okay? I just love it.
2. The Hanging Tree
To be honest I haven’t watched Mockingjay: Part 1 yet. I was saving it to watch now that part 2 is almost here. However I saw the sneak peaks and listened to the soundtrack and I love The Hanging Tree. I listened to that song non-stop when it was out. Another thing I love about The Hunger Games is the soundtracks. While I didn’t include it in my top 5 I still love it and the soundtracks are all amazing.
1. Rue dies
This one is a really sad moment that happened in the first book/movie but is one of my favorite scenes ever because for me is where everything really starts. Also, I loved Katniss relationship with Rue and how she saw Prim in Rue.
These are some of my favorite Hunger Games moments. Which moments are your favorites?
These are all of my favorites too : D but I also really love the scene in Catching Fire at the start of the games when Katniss gets to the Cornucopia so quickly that Finnick is sort of baffled. Especially when he asks how she learned to swim and she responded with “we have a big bath tub.”

I totaly forgot about that moment. I think that it’s time to rewatch The Hunger Games and Catching Fire 😀

It’s not in the movie DX I just rewatched them all with my friends because we’re going to go see Mockingjay 2 this weekend. I wish it was in the movie

Now I also need to re-read the books 😛

Most of these are my favourites…and when Rue dies, it’s so truly heartbreaking. I remember crying at the cinema, I loved Rue’s character and Katniss’ connection with her.

I almost cried but I was expecting that to happen so I prepared myself

Yeah it was pretty predictable!

Favorite moments from Hunger Games? Ugh. That’s tough. :p But these were some nice choices. However, I will be that person who disagrees with you on the epilogue. I didn’t like it and didn’t think it was necessary for the book. Oh well. To each their own. ^.^
To be honest, I think one of my favorite parts from the series has to be the Muttations in the book because it shows the cruelty of the Captiol: turning tributes into monsters for the games. I loved this little detail, which was, unfortunately, left out of the movie. >.>

The Muttations were a big part in the book. It’s sad that they didn’t used it in the movie.

I LOVE Johanna! Such an awesome character! Many of these are my favourites but I really love the part in Mockingjay where Katniss is making the badass speech when she says ‘Fire is catching and if we burn, you burn with us!’

All of these scenes are memorable. Another sad moment was when they took Cinna away and Katniss couldn’t do anything. I felt very bad. And the song Hanging Tree is awesome in the movie!

I was going to include either the scene where they take Cinna away or the one where he talks with Katnixx before the games start in the first book/movie but in the end I decided to choose other moments

I totally agree about the epilogue, it was awesome!

Johanna in the elevator is in the book. And I loved the epilogue too.

I really need to re-read the books. I don’t remember the elevator scene in the book

These are all my favourites too! Another one was when Finnick was dying in the books. Katniss didn’t even have time to look back even once. I was a total mess.

I’m still sad that Finnick died so I didn’t want to include that moment. Finnick’s death affected me way more than Prim’s death

I was completely numb with shock for a good amount of time. I remember reading on and then realising a whole many pages later that I hadn’t registered anything I’d been reading. Then I had to go back and reread those pages. I still haven’t gotten over Finnick’s death. 😦

No one was. Why did she have to kill Finnick??

*sob sob* My question exactly… 😥

Okay, I realised how sarcastically it reads. I didn’t mean it like that. I understood why Katniss couldn’t look back, why she had to keep moving, but the situation just completely broke my heart. 😥

yeah, but it’s still a pain in the ass. Our cinemas are so much better… you have no idea 😦 I miss them so much! Here, on the weekdays, the sessions only begin at 4pm… =/ and the popcorn sucks. And it’s more expensive. and the rooms suck
LikeLiked by 1 person
That really sucks. I normally go to the earliest sessions. When The Hunger Games premiered I was in the first session of the first day in my local cinema. Also, the popcorn is so good.

if I’m home, and I have a car, I don’t mind going to the 9pm or even midnight. but with the cinemas 1h30min from home, by train, I would like to go to the earliest session =/
on weekends they start at 11 a.m. though. but the popcorn here sucks, and most places don’t even have sweet popcorn
LikeLiked by 1 person
They don’t have sweet popcorn? Why? Is the best kind of popcorn
LikeLiked by 1 person
YES!!! And the ones that do, are not like ours… they caramelize theirs too much and I don’t like them. I actually have to go to a sweets shop to buy a bag of popcorn before heading to the cinemas… it’s sad…

Yay, I am so glad to hear I am not the only one out there who LOVED the epilogue!!! This was such a great post. I think you definitely got the top 5 moments right!!!

Thanks 🙂 ! It’s great to hear that there are a lot of people who loved the epilogue. Almost everyone didn’t like it and I absolutely loved it 😀

I know exactly what you mean! I was reading it with a tear in my eye thinking how perfect it was…and then when I spoke to other people about it they hated it! I just don’t understand!

I can definitely agree that these are also some of MY top moments in The Hunger Games! Fabulous choices! 😊
