Series That I Have Yet to Completed

The other day I made a post about all the book series that I have completed. Today I bring you the series that I have yet to finish. This list is going to be separated in three categories: series that are not completed (the last book is not out yet), series in which all books were released but I have yet the finish and series that for some reason  I will not finish. So let’s see what I have yet to finish.

Series That are Not Finished Yet

The books I’m going to show in this part are not completed because there is a least one book that was not released yet and that I want to finish as soon as they are released. The  exception to this are The Selection and The Bone Season because there is more than one book that has to be released. The Bone Season is going to have seven books and only two were released so this is going to be in my list for at least five more years.

The Lunar Chronicles

The Lunar Chronicles

The Selection

The Selection

The Bone Season

Red Queen

Red Rising

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Completed Series That I Have Yet to Finish

There are only two series in which all the book were released and I haven’t read it yet. These are The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. I know you are all going to be saying why didn’t read these books yet and there is an explanation. I didn’t read when I was younger and then I have been the last 9/10 saying to myself “You have to read these books”. A good thing is that I started both of the series and I want to finish them this year.

The Chronicles of Narnia

Harry Potter

Harry Potter

Series I’m Not Planning to Finish

These are the series in which I read a book but I’m not planning to finish them. Mostly I will not read them because either I didn’t like the first book that much or I read bad things about them. The only exceptions are The Giver Quartet and Across the Universe. I’m not reading these because I’ve read it long time ago and I think that while I liked both books I have other things that I want to read before.

The Giver Quartet

The Giver

Across the Universe

Delirium Series

Wolves of Mercy Falls

Caster Chronicles

Beautiful Creatures

These are the series that I have yet to finish. Have you read any of them? And what series do you think I should be reading? Tell me about it in the comments.

T5W – Most Frustrating Characters

Today I bring you Top 5 Wednesdays which was created by gingerreadslainey. If you want to know how T5W works you can go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. This weeks theme is Top 5 Most Frustrating Characters. While I knew for sure three of the characters that I want to put in this list I had a few problems to get the last two. But I did it. So let’s start it.

5. Tris Prior – Divergent Series

I loved Divergent and I loved Tris but there is one point that I getting so frustrated with her. She was always trying to get on fights with Four and doing stupid things and I got so mad at her. If you read Allegiant you know were her actions took her.

4. Jessamine Lovelace – The Infernal Devices

Jessamine, Jessamine, Jessamine. I didn’t like her, at all. She was always whining, complaining and to have everything in the way she wanted. I just didn´t like her.

3. America Singer – The Selection Series

I liked America in the beginning and she was going to be in The Selection to be able to help her family but her indecision was getting on my nerves. She had a prince who liked her and she liked him but then Aspen appeared and she was doubting again which one she loved. WHY?? Just choose Maxon already OK? (I didn’t read The One and probably that didi happen)

2. Amy and Nick Dunne – Gone Girl

Do I need to explain this? Amy does what she does just because she needs to have everything the way she wants and he just stays there? Nope. I didn’t understand that and it was so frustrating that in the end I was like I don’t care you both have twisted minds so just stay together… Ugh

1. Bella Swan – Twilight Saga

Don’t get me wrong. I loved Twilight but let’s be real. I think that Bella is going to be in most of top 5. You really needed to stay like that only because your boyfriend broke up with you and moved?? Really? Have you not heard about something called move on? It’s not like you couldn’t meet somebody else (cough* Jacob *cough).

Most Frustrating Characters

So this was my top 5 for Most Frustrating Characters. Who would you add to this list?

Would You Rather Book Tag

Today I decided to bring you a book tag, most specifically the Would You Rather book tag. This tag was created by RayKayBooks and I was tagged by Warisha from WarishaReads to do it.  I’m not tagging anyone but if you want to do it you’re welcome.

1. Read only trilogies or standalones?

I like to read both but I think I would prefer to read standalones.

2. Read only female or male authors?

I don’t read books because the gender of the author so I don’t know. But I think I’ve read more female authors than male so I would probably choose female.

3. Shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?

I live in Portugal and we don’t have a Barnes & Noble but I don’t buy books on Amazon. I would say any bookstore in Portugal because I like to go there and have my time looking to the books and choosing them.

4. All books become movies or t.v. shows?

TV shows. We would have more time and they would not have to skip important scenes that don´t appear in movies due to the limited time that they have.

5. Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

Normally I read a lot so I think I would choose 5 books per week. I wouldn’t be able to read only 5 pages a day.

6. Be a professional reviewer or author?

I don’t write so I would rather be a professional reviewer.

7. Only read your top 20 favorite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t read before?

Read books I haven’t read before.

8. Be a librarian or book seller?

I never thought about it but probably a book seller

9. Only read your favorite genre, or every genre except your favorite?

I have a few favorite genres and I would rather read them than any other genre.

10. Only read physical books or eBooks?

I read mostly eBooks but it’s because normally I would read in the train on the way to college and my Kobo occupies less space than the physical book but if I had to choose I would prefer a physical copy.

Completed Series

A few months ago I watched Katytastic’s video about her completed series. I decided that I wanted to know how many series I had completed. Something that you should know is that sometimes  I am terrible in completing series because I just decide to wait months/years to read the last book and then I just don´t want to read it anymore. So, let’s se how many series I have completed. If you want to know more about the books I talk here click in the image, it will take you to the Goodreads page (even if you clearly know about most of the books that I’m going to talk about =) ).

P.S.: I am not including short stories

The Mortal Instruments

The Infernal Devices

Divergent Series

Shatter Me Trilogy

The Hunger Games

Mara Dyer Trilogy

Anna and the French Kiss

If I Stay

Just One Day

In total I have completed 15 series which I think it’s not a bad number. I thought that I had completed less series. I will try to make a post about all the series that I have yet to finish this week.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – Review

Publication Date:

February 10th 2015

Harper Teen

Goodreads Synopsis:

Graceling meets The Selection in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard’s sweeping tale of seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king’s palace. Will her power save her or condemn her?

Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood–those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.

To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard–a growing Red rebellion–even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.

This was one of the books that I had high expectations because all the hype that existed around it, and believe me, it didn’t disappoint. In some ways this book is similar to other dystopian books, but then there is also some unique characteristics about it. In Red Queen we have a world that is divided in two different groups, the Red and the Silver bloods. Mare, a Red blood, finds herself serving a Silver family, but not just any family, the royal family. While serving them she accidentally finds out that she has superhuman abilities like the Silvers, a fact that changes her life. At this point all the dynamic of the book changes making the book even better. I really liked this book. All the characters were amazing, even the villains, and the book was well written. This book might be similar to other dystopian books but at one point something happens, and let´s be real, that twist broke my heart. How could you do this to me Victoria, I wasn´t expecting it.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and it was one of that books that I didn´t want to end. I need to know what happens next. Now we just have to wait one year for the second book (I’m here impatiently waiting). If you love this type of books I would recommend Red Queen to you. You will not regret reading it.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown – Review

Publication Date:

January 28th 2014

Del Rey

Goodreads Synopsis:

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power.  He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

In the beginning of this book I had mixed feelings about it. First off all I was in a terrible reading slump when I read it and also, this is a book that as a lot of world building. Because of that it was hard to get into it and it was a little bit confusing. But then I got into it because I was already used to the world that Pierce Brown created and I really enjoyed it. This book might be in a dystopian world but it’s not like all the other dystopian books. If you think that this is the next The Hunger Games you are completely wrong. Yes, there are teens left «alone» in the wild where they have to survive but this even darker and ruthless than The Hunger Games.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I’m excited to read the remainig books to see what’s coming up in this story.

Confess by Colleen Hoover – Review

confessPublication Date:

March 10th 2015

Atria Books

Goodreads Synopsis:

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

I started this book one night saying to myself “Let´s read just a few chapters”. It didn’t happen and I stayed up until 4 am. This always happens to me when I’m reading Colleen Hoover’s books. Like always I started this thinking that I was going to be crying by the end of the book. While this was true I can also say that I started crying in the second page.

The book starts when Auburn, the main protagonist, is fifteen years-old and loses the most important thing of her life. Six years later she leaves everything behind and moves to a new city. It is here that she meets Owen, a talented artist that has an art gallery. One of the things I loved the most in this book was the concept of Owen’s art gallery “Confessions”, a gallery where scraps of paper with anonymous confessions are left. Is in this confessions that Owen gets inspiration for his paintings. After the moment that they meet we see their interactions and how they feel about each other. Being a Colleen Hoover’s book it is already known that is going to be heart-breaking and beautiful. I really loved this book and how Auburn and Owen life’s interconnected. My only problem with this book was the lack of an epilogue. I need to know what happened next.

Overall this was an amazing book that shows a girl who does anything for the person she loves the most, even if this is going to hurt her. Like always, after reading this book I know that I will keep reading all of her Colleen Hoover’s books because they are always so real and beautiful where the characters are shown with flaws and make mistakes like in real life. If you want a book that will make you feel all the feelings this is the right book for you.
